Case17: Network Unreachable Due to Negotiation Mismatch

1. Issue Description

Customer was trying to connect Femto with 10GE optical port, SFP and fiber were installed properly, tx/rx lighting green, fm1-mac10 port is up from Femto side. But ping is not rechable from Femto to Core or gateway. Gw: 10.50.2.1/2

2. Troubleshooting procedure

2.1 Check the routing of Femto Default route of Femto is not existing at the beginning, but still can’t ping after add manually. Default route “default via 10.50.2.2 dev fm1-mac10”

2.2 Check the tx/rx optical power of both end.

From the SFP monitoring the tx/rx power is in good range.

2.3 Check the port status:

Femto side fm1-mac10 is up.

Check the port 4 status in switch and observe its down.

Check the negotaiton mode of port 4 and it was configured autonegotiation mode by default, and showing Down status.

3. Solution

Modify the switch port 4 negotation mdoe from auto to 10Gbps Full duplex and port is up. The network are reachable from Femto to CN.
